The Black Socialist Society (“BSSâ€) will be holding a Labour deputy leadership election hustings for its members on Monday 21 May. The BSS has over 4000 members and is the main national, representative body of ethnic minority members of the Labour Party, to which it is affiliated.
Commenting on the event, Ahmad Shahzad, Chair of the BSS, said:
“We are holding this deputy leadership election hustings to give our members the chance to ask the various contenders what they intend to do for our members and the Black, Asian and minority ethnic communities.â€
It is estimated that over 20% of the Labour Party’s membership is made up of ethnic minorities and therefore candidates will be looking to garner as many BSS members’ votes as possible.
The event will take place at a Westminster location from 6pm. Further details will be provided on this site in due course.
